Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

From David Matero Architecture, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  May 2015 bring you peace and prosperity. hill

A Look Back

DMA enjoyed a good year in 2014 and had the privilege of working on a variety of interesting commercial and residential projects.  Our second 10-pin bowling alley, Easy Day, opened in South Portland, and a new restaurant at Seacoast Adventure in Windham will open this winter.  The Re-Modular, a 3,000 sf near net zero house, is performing extraordinarily in Brunswick, and a 1,000 sf cottage in Poland, the Couple’s Cottage, received the most likes on our Facebook page.

Office Xmas party

DMA enjoyed the company of present and past employees at our Christmas party.  Alex and Dane are doing very well in NH, as both are working for an engineering firm in Laconia,  RFS Engineering, where Alex is providing lighting design and rendering expertise.  Sophi’s husband, Travis, also joined us for a delightful meal at one of our favorite restaurants – Solo Bistro in Bath. xmas

Views from the Job Site

Our second project on this North Bath lot is out of the ground.  An addition to a mostly glass house, the master bedroom suite will also have an office / guest room and loft studio.  The addition is oriented to stunning views of the Kennebec River and is designed to compliment the very distinct and iconic main house.  The Eyrie, right next door, along with this project, creates a wonderful compound.  Both projects by Bachman Construction. Last Month, the New England Revolution missed out on another MLS Cup with a narrow loss to the LA Galaxy 2-1 in overtime.  David made the trip to Los Angeles and met up with a bunch of friends to cheer on the Revs.  The nearly 1,000 Revolution fans who  made the trip out west were the loudest fans in the stadium.  Yes, the glue is soccer, despite the Revs losing in the finals 5 times now, but it really is an excuse to hang out with old friends and meet new ones, and maybe see some stars on Hollywood Boulevard. friends

DMA worked with PM Construction to provide Architect of Record drawings and permitting for a new Mediterranean restaurant in the foody city of Portland.  Both the permitting and construction phases were on a fast-track schedule.  Opening very soon at 311 Commercial St (Courtyard Marriott), the interior design for TIQA was provided by Arkay-Leliever Creative Consultancy LLC based in Fairfield, CT.  TIQA’s website will be live as soon as the restaurant is open a little later this month. tiqa

On the Drawing Board

“Camping in the Cottage” has increased in scope.  This lake-side cottage in Rangeley is now 700 sf.  Within that is an energy efficient design with double-thick walls, triple-glazed windows, two bedrooms, one bath and an open living space.  The roof is sloped to take advantage of the southern light while making sure snow is piled to the back side of the cottage. view1
