Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.

Maine Home + Design

The July issue of Maine Home + Design‘s “On the Drawing Board” section featured the Eyrie.  A 750 sf house (with a 750sf walk-out basement), the Eyrie enjoys wonderful views of the Kennebec River with energy efficient features and design.  Next month the link on the MH+D website will include the article, or you can just purchase the magazine at your favorite book store or grocery store.  Construction by Bachman Construction. eyrie

World Cup Viewing Party

DM|A has enjoyed sponsoring viewing parties at Byrnes Irish Pub in Bath these last couple of weeks for the USA World Cup games.  Standing room only crowds have witnessed the USA go through the group of death and surprise the new soccer fans with the passion that surrounds this world-wide sport.  Their recent loss to Belgium was a 120 minute heart-breaker, but we have a young a upcoming squad and will continue to support the red, white and blue.

Views from the Job Site

Construction, by Oceanside Builders, is nearing completion of the Family Retreat in West Bath.  A renovation to an existing summer-only cottage, insulation and a new finish of clear tongue and groove pine creates a new, updated, aesthetic on the interior.  New bump-out additions, screen porch, and exterior finishes maintain the essence of the existing cottage while providing additional amenities. fam-retreat

More Views from the Job Site

Working under DEP shoreland zoning regulations, DM|A was able to upgrade this waterfront cottage and provide just the right amount of space the clients were looking for in this  Phippsburg cottage.  Maximizing the allowable square footage, DM|A designed a new window wall facing the view, an additional bedroom and improved amenities.  Scheduled completion is the end of July by Bunge Woodworks . mcc

Bath Heritage Days

A major fund raising event for Main Street Bath, Bath Heritage Days is also a celebration of our Independence as the city is engulfed with many activities from Thursday July 3 to Sunday July 6.  Starting with Kids Day, a barbeque and the carnival on Thursday, arts and crafts festivals and outdoor music at multiple venues throughout the weekend, the festivities end with a fireworks show Sunday night.  Look for us Friday morning as we march in the parade in support of Main Street Bath. heritage2

A/E Tournament

David recently competed in the A/E Charity Tournament at Springbrook Golf Course in Leeds.  Playing on team Casco Bay Engineering with Eric and Tony, and Jake from Suffolk Construction, they were one stroke behind the leaders in gross score.  The CBE team was not able to repeat this year, although David did win closest to the pin on one of the par 3 holes. On the Drawing Board

DM|A has progressed with further refinement of a house in Cape Elizabeth.  A planned deep energy retrofit, upgraded living spaces will be flooded with natural light in the winter, and shaded sun in the summer.  DM|A will manage through the permitting process before moving forward with finalizing drawings. cape

Bath FC

It was not a good soccer day for David recently.  Immediately following the USA’s loss to Belgium, David’s team, Bath FC, lost in the first round of their playoffs in penalty kicks.  Coming back from a 2-0 deficit, BFC scored 2 second half goals, with the second goal coming with about 1 minute left in the game.  Bath FC plays in a both a summer and indoor winter league through Seacoast United Maine and can be followed on facebook. bath-fc
